Katie Snuggs is a retired City of Asheboro employee, working nearly 22 years as an administrative assistant in the city's Public Works Division. Snuggs is the first African-American female to serve as a Councilmember and was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Mike Hunter, who passed away in April, 2015. Ms. Snuggs also was an active agent of change during the civil rights movement, participating in sit-ins and advocating for the end of discrimination through non-violent protests.
